John MacConnell is a New York City based figurative artist. His work focuses on people’s interaction with contemporary life and culture, in a minimalist style. He has been interviewed about his work in numerous publications, including the Huffington Post. John has his BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, Maryland, his MFA from the School of Visual Arts in New York City, and has studied at the Willem de Kooning Academie in Rotterdam. He formerly taught at Long Island University. He has exhibited in solo and group shows in New York City and group shows internationally.
As an illustrator John MacConnell’s clients include editorial illustrations published in the pages of Runner’s World Magazine, Food Network Magazine, The Village Voice, The Advocate, Playboy Magazine, and Backpacker Magazine. Other clients include paintings and drawings for Abercrombie & Fitch, murals for Google, Covergirl, and Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, and a backdrop for an Alice+Olivia fashion show.
